Shadows and Light


For my final photo assignment I chose to do shadows and light. There are different shadows in different places all throughout the day, so during this week my eyes were always on the lookout for shadows.

Portait


This week I chose to do portraits for my photo assignment. I took pictures of my friend Lauren. We took a ton of pictures; some inside, some outside, and some in borders. I liked the result of the borders pictures with Lauren surrounded by books. I also liked the lighting of the picture outside, which made it my favorite.

Visual Dictionary


This week our gimp assignment was to create an image for a visual dictionary. We used type and images to illustrate a word from the dictionary. I chose the word Azure. It is an adjective describing the color blue or a blue sky. It is very pretty.

This week I chose to do nature for my photo assignment. I took pictures outside when it was sunny and great for photo taking. I took a lot of close up nature photos, showing the interesting details of the nature around us.

This week for my photo assignment I chose to do architecture. I went to the University of Michigan campus and took photos of buildings on campus. One of the main places I took photos was the new business school. It is a very cool looking building.

Portrait Demo Gimp Assignment


This week our assignment was to capture two quality portrait photos, one in the studio and one with window light, and to make an image in gimp with both portraits framed. In this gimp assignment we worked with layers, resizing photos, framing photos, and adding text to a photo.
My studio portrait is of Nick C, holding a plant. My window light portrait is of Nick P.

Photo Retouching


The point of this assignment was to learn some basic and some advanced photo
editing techniques. We took a picture of a car and edited to remove the distracting background, tint the front window, and remove some glare from the front hood. We worked with the crop, level, and clone tools.

Animals


This week I chose to take pictures of animals for my assignment. First I took pictures of my friend's dog. I took pictures both inside and outside with the dog. I liked the results of the pictures outside in the snow with the dog playing with a soccer ball. I also took pictures of my cat during the late afternoon sunlight, which is a great lighting for pictures.

Andy Warhol Gimp Assignment


For this assignment we were to create an Andy Warhol type effect for one of our pictures. We took a picture and cropped it to be square, then changed the threshold and added color.
